Ceiling fans & light fixtures

DuPage · Kane · Kendall · Will counties, IL

Swapping a light for a fan sounds simple until you find the ceiling box was never meant to hold a spinning fan, or there is no wiring in the ceiling at all.

We install ceiling fans and fixtures the right way: a fan-rated box anchored to the framing, new wiring and a switch where there was none, and help patching around the opening.

Signs you need this

  • You want a fan in a bedroom or living room with no ceiling light
  • An existing fan wobbles or the box looks loose
  • You are hanging a heavy chandelier or a row of pendants
  • You want a wall switch or remote instead of a pull chain

Questions

Can you add a fan where there is no light?

Yes. We run new wiring from a nearby circuit, add a switch and install a fan-rated box. How we route the wire depends on the attic or floor above.

Why does the box matter?

A standard light box is not built to carry a fan's weight and movement. Fans need a box listed for fan support, fastened to the framing.

Will there be drywall damage?

Usually only small openings. We keep them as small as possible and can help with patching.
